Welcome back, and thanks for your patience as I've been nursing an injured wrist, which is now just about 100% better. From here on in, I'll post every Wednesday, (US Pacific time) though if you check directly with the site, you may see the weekly column posted as early as Tuesday evening.
This coming week mostly consists of Mercury and Venus interacting with Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Pluto over the next five days.
We begin with Mercury's square to Neptune on the 29th. As a stand-alone aspect, it would often leave one wondering if Mercury was in fact retrograde. While Mercury isn't retrograde, the mental confusion surrounding this aspect often makes people ask me if that's the case. This time, however, we have other dynamics which make things a little less cut and dry.
Mercury is also heading towards an inconjunct with Saturn the next morning, which may actually compound the feeling of brain fog. Think of a written report that you have to prepare. You hand it in, but it is returned with suggestions for changes. You may have missed some important facts or simply messed up your spelling or grammar, but the gist is that one shouldn't be too surprised if a do-over of some sort is in store. Further mitigating our temporary proclivity towards verbal stumblings is an opposition between Mercury and Jupiter, heightening a tendency to ramble. I know I'll be looking at this article several times over the next couple of days, concerned that I need to correct something that I've written.
Now, this would lead one to think that getting any sort of paperwork done in the last few days of May could be an exercise in futility, but it actually isn't. Saturn wants us to work hard (though Neptune wants us to take a long break). I'd advise us all to deal with any errors and work on correcting them. Once we have, we get help from Venus in Taurus, forming a sextile with Neptune, and we can indulge a bit as a reward. We can even use that Mercury - Jupiter conjunction to have an especially lively conversation with someone. Of course, by then Mercury and Pluto will be approaching an inconjunct, and combined with Jupiter we'll need to watch for TMI. In other words, the best week will be had by those who think about their words before they are spoken or written.
While our verbal skills may not necessarily be at their best this week, the ability to kick back and have a good time could be better for us. The aforementioned Venus - Neptune sextile is good for taking in a movie. For extra effect, choose something with a strong focus on the film's cinematography. Venus will also be in aspect with Saturn (via trine), so while we'll appreciate beauty and even abstract beauty, Saturn will compel us to keep it relatively familiar. Don't feel like this is the week to try something too different. Stick to what you know you'll enjoy.
As May gives way to June, Venus will continue to make aspects, including an inconjunct with Jupiter early on the 1st and a trine with Pluto late on the 2nd. The Venus - Jupiter inconjunct won't really be felt by everyone, necessarily (see below to see who may be affected), but generally those who are will need to watch out for problems created by overindulgence.
Venus trine Pluto should affect and be felt more strongly by more people, and it's a great aspect for those of us who are looking to breathe new life into any friendships or relationships where needed. Even better, the aspect takes place only hours from the New Moon in Gemini, early on the 3rd, so the theme will reverberate over the next lunar cycle. How to renew those relationships? With a Gemini New Moon, lively conversation is the best way to get there.
Speaking of conversation, we have a shift in that dynamic the day after the New Moon, when Mercury enters Cancer. With Mercury in Cancer, our thoughts and words are derived from instinct and emotion rather than from the intellect that we get from Mercury in Gemini. We may also tend to have family on our minds a little more than usual.
So that is our very dynamic week ahead. A quick glance to next week shows Jupiter and Saturn interacting with Neptune (via square and sextile, respectively), with the Sun joining in the "fun". Until then, may your week be filled with love and light.
