Yes, I went there with the title (RIP Peter Mayhew). Welcome back to Astro Almanac, astro fans! This week has quite a few aspects to discuss, so there's just one thing about last week that I'd like to discuss: Saturn's retrograde station back on the 29th of April. From last week's post:
I would expect to see more news and revelations of corruption among those in power, but at the same time, more authoritarian fighting words from the same people. Both things should ramp up starting with Saturn's station on the 29th, while Mercury's interactions with Saturn and Pluto begin.
The first big news to come of this is a turning point in the saga of the Mueller Report, when it was revealed that Robert Mueller himself wrote a letter to AG Barr stating his disagreement with Barr's initial summary of the report given in late March. On the 1st, as Mercury and Mars interacted with Saturn and Pluto, AG Barr testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee and admitted that he didn't properly review the report before presenting the summary that he wrote in March. This followed up with Barr's no-show on the 2nd.
As Saturn continues his retrograde motion through the spring and summer, he will pick out all of the wrongdoing done by those in power and hold it up to the light. We can expect more revelations as 2019 progresses.
Now for the coming week, starting with May 4th's New Moon in Taurus. This New Moon highlights earned income, possessions, and our personal values - basically, how we sustain ourselves. It also highlights what brings us joy and pleasure in this world. The only aspect this New Moon makes this time around is (barely) a sextile to Neptune, which will give us a little boost if we want to work on our manifestation exercises around this time. Ask for the good things you want in life - the Universe is listening. You'll also be able to do so around the 8th, when the Sun exacts his sextile to Neptune. It will also be a great time to start creative projects and/or spiritual journeys.
Meanwhile, Mars continues to make minor aspects, having formed an inconjunct to Saturn earlier in the week, and forming one to Pluto on the 5th. Those of us affected may find ourselves having to adjust how we use our personal power. Are there any areas of life where we are being too aggressive or forceful? Are we holding on to control of a certain situation? We may be called upon to review this and make adjustments accordingly.
At the same time, Mars and Jupiter face off in an opposition. We'll feel this aspect far more strongly than the inconjunct to Pluto, but both aspects are tied in to one another. With a Mars - Jupiter opposition, we often feel like we can do almost anything, "conquer the world" sort of energy, if you will. Of course, we can't, and suddenly we realize that we're getting in over our heads. Those of us affected will need to take stock of our abilities and look both ways before taking action. We'll also need to make sure we're not stepping on the toes of others to get what we want. Do these things, and disaster can certainly be averted, putting us on a better path than we were before these transits occur.
One person who is very likely to feel the Mars aspects is the current US President, whose natal Lunar Eclipse stands at 21 Sagittarius (Moon) and 22 Gemini (Sun).
We will have to see what happens around this time, as very impulsive actions could be made as Mars makes these aspects. I imagine that he'll be feeling confident, perhaps to a fault, and wanting to improve his public image. Again, we'll have to see what that entails, but this weekend and early next week certainly holds the potential for...interesting times. Any confidence may be short lived (a day or two, tops) as Venus forms a T-square with transiting Saturn and POTUS' Venus-Saturn conjunction in Cancer.
We get an energy shift on the 6th as Mercury begins a two-week journey through Taurus. During this time, our communications are a bit softer (as Taurus is ruled by Venus), and our planning skills are heightened. Ideas that came up while Mercury was in Aries can now be made into reality, as Taurus is a very practical sign. Mercury's conjunction with Uranus on the 8th ought to help speed these things along for us by giving us flashes of genius and brilliance. Just make sure that those flashes are based in reality!
The second half of our forecast period will see Venus square the Saturn - Pluto conjunction, squaring Saturn on the 7th and Pluto on the 9th, the same day that Venus harmonizes with Jupiter via trine. So, a very mixed time.
Those of us affected by the Venus - Saturn square might be feeling a little bit unlucky in love temporarily. The best way to combat these feelings is to work hard at any relationship or close friendship that we may be feeling a bit out of sorts over. It may be time for a positive change.
Specifically, we may need to assess the issue of power and control in relationships, as Venus squares Pluto on the 9th. We do get some assistance in the form of Jupiter, which Venus will contact via trine only moments after the square to Pluto. Working hard on these issues this week should have us reaping the rewards of a job well done.
The coming week may have its share of challenging aspects (although we probably can't complain about the Venus - Jupiter trine), but sometimes weeks like these are when we experience the most growth. And once we get through this week, I'm happy to report that next week should be far less challenging. More on that in next week's report.
